    A Word about Salaries

Please understand that the folks that send us these job announcements may not know or aren't in a position to share salary information, and we don’t ask. Of course we realize that both churches and job applicants need to be aware of competitive salary ranges. The phrase "Salary Commensurate With Experience" doesn't tell the whole story.

Leadership Network (www.leadnet.org) is one group that tries to stay on top of such things. In 2003 and 2006, they produced a salary survey that you may find most helpful. Unfortunately they don’t break down the various production team roles like we would want to see them, however they do list the salary range for a Media Director. It's a start.

Your church may find it helpful to participate in the Leadership Network 2008 Salary Survey, due out in Fall 2008.

Also, the National Association of Church Business Administrators has their own 2008 salary survey in progress which you can find here.

Or don't wait. There is a book out now called The 2008 Compensation Handbook for Church Staff compiled by Richard Hammar available here.

Here’s another interesting salary calculation database mentioned in the 2006 LeadNet survey.

And here is an interesting article in the Leadership Network May 2008 e-newsletter.

    Hope those resources prove helpful.
